A good friend gave me the gift of a doula for my pregnancy and my
daughter's birth. A year ago I didn't even know what a doula
was! Meredith was just an email away, providing me with answers
to my many questions, explaining to me further options I had, and
helping me process all the changes that were happening to me.
During the birth, Meredith was very intuitive, knowing when to
offer suggestions and when I just needed space. She helped me to
stick with my birth plan as much as possible, offering me and my
husband helpful suggestions for pain relief. I will
definitely ask Meredith to attend me next time around!

Dear Meredith- It is a blessing to have met you. I knew from the
first time we talked on the phone that you were the one. Sounds like
a love letter to a doula! :) I am so grateful for your love and
support during my pregnancy and throughout labour and delivery. I
appreciated your wide perspective. I appreciated your deep
listening, and your gentle touch. Thanks for all your reminders. You
are the perfect doula for me! May many women experience your love
and support. May your business flourish.

We chose a doula for
support, as another loving being present at the birth, so I didn't
have to feel solely responsible for support. Communication with
Meredith was clear, direct and understanding. She was/is phenomenal
and I really enjoy being in her presence. During labour she was
close by, attentive but never over-bearing. The emotional support,
knowing she was present was most helpful. Meredith will be at my
next child's birth.

Meredith is an extremely
professional, competent and compassionate doula. We were very
impressed with her calm and friendly demeanour, so much so that we
asked her to assist us with our second baby's birth. We do not
hesitate to recommend her as a doula for anyone who feels that they
could benefit from any of the myriad skills and services that a doula has to offer. As a bonus, her birth stories are a priceless
addition to the whole experience. Thanks Meredith!

Meredith, thank you so much for everything you have done for us! You
were amazing at the birth of Makenzie! You made my birth a lot
easier and helped me with my low back pain. You were a great help to
both me and {my husband}. He was really happy to have you there, to
help him, giving him breaks especially when he wasn't feeling well.
You did so much for me from feeding me, giving me cold packs and
just doing whatever you thought I would benefit from.
Also, thank you so much for taking the wonderful pictures of the
entire experience and our beautiful daughter! The video of Makenzie
will be a great reminder of how precious she was as a newborn! When
we read the story you made for Makenzie of her journey into the
world, my husband and I both had tears in our eyes!
We were all very lucky to have you at Makenzie's birth and to have
you after as well! Bryce loved his play time too! If we have another
baby we would be honoured to have you there with us again. Thank you
for adding so much to our great experience!

Meredith was wonderful. She has a friendly, easy going personality that puts you
at ease immediately. She is well educated and organized, instilling confidence
naturally. Meredith's help during the birth of our second son was wonderful,
ever changing/rotating, non-judgemental and tremendously supportive. After the
birth, her support remained as we found our way through a difficult first week.
Thank you Meredith! Wouldn't have wanted to do it without you.

We're both really glad we had Meredith with us for the birth of our daughter.
Being 1st time parents, it was deeply reassuring to know that we had someone as
competent and supportive as Meredith to help guide us through the whole
experience. We were both better able to relax and be present to the moment
thanks to Meredith. Throughout the whole time, from prenatal visits where we
really got to know each other, throughout the wonderful home birth that Meredith
not only made possible but also captured beautifully in photos, to the
thoughtful postnatal check-ins and the lovely birth story that she wrote for us,
Meredith provided the best possible support and helped to enrich a truly
wonderful experience.

Meredith took the time to get to know us and what kind of birth we wanted. She
modelled the type of support I could give [my wife]. She also let us know what
was normal, par for the course, gave us an idea of where we were at in the
process and took many wonderful photos. She also wrote a lovely birth story that
we will always cherish. It helped us both relax a great deal, knowing that she
was there to guide us. It was a wonderful experience. Thanks so much, Meredith!

Meredith is so accessible- in every sense of the word. She's easy to talk to and
readily available. We had an easy connection and it felt natural to welcome her
into the family. I felt comfortable to call or chat with her about anything and
everything/ All of the resources she shared I would otherwise not have had
access to- books, DVDs were invaluable. Her sense of what I needed was spot on.
She just fit in so well. Her soothing touch and her gift of being able to help
me focus on the incredible journey my body was going through helped me live in
the moment.

We absolutely LOVE her gift to Hudson- his birth
story. I shared it with all of my close friends and family- it brought nearly
everyone to tears for its beauty and window into our incredible experience.
I think the thing that strikes me most about what I gained from having Meredith
as my doula has less to do with her physical presence at our birth and more to
do with what she taught me about my role as a mother. So much emphasis
tends to be placed on the birth experience, which as incredible as it is (and it
was for us!) it is one event of many on a continuum from pregnancy and birth and
in to motherhood. I now see the inherent connection between the growing &
learning I did in my pregnancy with the help of Meredith & all her resources,
and how this has shaped the kind of mother I am today. I became empowered by the
wisdom and experience shared from one woman to another, on matters ranging from
the birth experience to the beauty of a woman's mind and body and the gift of
bringing a child into this world. By being encouraged to be an active
participant in my pregnancy and labour I developed a heightened awareness &
consciousness of what it means to be a mother - and the kind of mother I wish to
be for my son Hudson. For this I am forever grateful.

I feel the only way to do it {give birth} is with Meredith- every time I
hope. Her overall presence made a challenging process run smoothly because of
her calming way and knowledge. She did everything we needed, and comforted {my
wife}.

After having Meredith as our doula for our first baby, we knew we wanted her
as our doula for the birth of our second baby. During labour, Meredith provided
exactly what I needed when I needed it. At one point, I was just about to ask
for a cold cloth on my neck as Meredith provided one. She was a friendly,
motherly and calming presence at our home birth and had an excellent working
relationship with the midwives. Thank you Meredith for contributing to our
positive home birth experience and for capturing the special moments on camera.

This being our first child, and a home birth, we thought it very important to
have as much support and experience present as possible; thus we
decided to have a doula present. The moment we met Meredith we knew
she was just what we had been looking for. She is such a wonderful
caring person, whom we trusted immediately, and were very excited to
have her energy present at our daughter's birth.
During labour, Meredith seemed to intuitively know what I needed to
make me more comfortable, whether it be massage, warm oat bags or
quiet tips for my husband on how he could help me through this
important process. As labour progressed, Meredith was right there
holding my hand and keeping my spirits up with encouraging words as
we welcomed our little girl into the world.
Afterwards she helped to make sure all 3 of us were able to rest
comfortably.
Meredith was a wonderful addition to our birth team. I think anyone
would be very blessed to have her present as they bring their little
one into the world.

Meredith was such a help for us during the birth of both of our children- I
can't imaine not having a doula to help us through both of our home births.
I still remember a phrase she would use during the labour & birth of our first
baby - I was having a particularly painful contractions, she put a warm cloth on
my back and said in a very calming voice, "breathe to the baby". My husband, who
was holding me at the time, said he immediately felt me relax into the
contraction and I felt more focused and ready to face the next one!
With the birth of our second baby, nothing could beat the calming effects of
having warm water poured over my back as I laboured in the birth pool at home.
Very therapeutic! My husband and I can't imagine our 2 home births without our
wonderful doula - thank you Meredith!

While
I was labouring at home, I loved having the extra hands of a doula. My husband was (surprisingly!) awesome and him and
Meredith were the perfect support team for me. Even if that
meant...someone rubbed my back while the other held a bucket
while I puked and contracted at the same
time!

I really wanted to try
birthing naturally with no medications or interventions and felt I
needed experienced support to help with this goal. Meredith came
prepared with aids (ball, hot compresses, ideas) in labour and
helped my husband help me. I felt I could ask anything or tell her
to stop if need be. Having someone who knows what is going on and
knows what I want was the most beneficial part of having a doula. I
felt that Meredith was able to give me strength and encouragement
during the tough part of labour, but she did this without
interfering with the hospital staff or us as a couple.

I wanted support in case I
passed out! And to help make sure {my wife} enjoyed the birth as
much as possible. Communication was fantastic - Meredith, you picked
up on non-verbal cues as well! You rocked during labour! The snacks
after birth saved me from hitting the floor! Having an extra set of
experienced hands and the breastfeeding support and postpartum blues
support were key. I definitely hope Meredith could help again {at
our next birth}.

I wanted a doula for both my
husband and I to have the most positive birth experience. Meredith
was relaxed, laid back and clear, and helped us figure out what we
wanted for a birth plan. She helped me through every single
contraction, and came over after the birth for breastfeeding
support. The pain management ideas and the support of knowing she
was there to help us were very calming.
~Abigail's mom
We wanted a doula for pain management and for
extra support during labour to help both me and my husband. I always
felt I could be very open with Meredith- she was always very helpful
and supportive. She was excellent during the birth, using cold and
hot compresses to help with pain, and words of comfort to re-focus my
attention towards the baby. I felt I really could get through labour
and have the birth experience I wanted. Definitely I would have doula support again - hopefully Meredith!

It was my first pregnancy. Neither my husband nor I knew exactly
what it was going to be like, so I wanted to have the psychological
and emotional support of a trained and caring professional. When I
went into labour, it was very comforting to be able to phone
Meredith and have her come right over to my house. She was there
with me throughout the labour and was definitely a source of
strength and encouragement!
